we brought the smartkids to the library today!
i had finn and stacey under me and the main agenda was to help them nurture a love for reading.
(i sound like some corny psycho crap)
now,i remember very clearly that when i was 9 or 11,i read books on the usual enid blyton, roald dahl and (sweet valley kids and twins--->super embarrassing piece of info here) other random stuff.

we get there and immediately these two started giving me trouble so to speak.
stacey, wanted to go up to the adults section cause she wanted to read up on handicraft!
at that point, she seem to me the oldest 11 year old i've met.
so i finally manage to convince finn and her that handicraft isn't going to help you in your composition as there are limited vocabulary in there.

and then....... came the saga of 'i only want to read mr midnite and mary kate and ashley!'.
WHAT SO FREAKING GOOD ABOUT MR MIDNIGHT??? THAT GUY IS LIKE,EXPOILTING THE KIDS OF SINGAPORE LA.
stacey even swooned over his printed signature cause she thought it was real.
see what i mean???
it was almost impossible to ask this 2 young sweet girls to choose books of normal genre that has to do with anything girly.
at one point, after stacey had chosen 2 marykate and ashley books and finn had 3(3!) mr midnight books,i made them to choose something else.
despite all my reccomendations which they (ERHEM) sniggered and eee-ed at,they still had a hard time finding books not of mr midnight.
finn finally chose a rather girly looking book on pony camp (never have i been so relieved to see a pink book) while stacey .... well...chose a mr midnight book.

we settled at a small table and after a few attempts to actually get them to open the books, they ran off to the toilets.
so i used that time to read up on one of the books from the mr midnight series.
the language was so so,sentence structure a tad bit weird and basically im not really fond of it.
BUT GUESS WHAT,
i ended up reading aloud the first chapter to the girls who were both mesmerized by my enchanting and melodious voice and NOT THE CONTENT.
LOL
we then took turns reading it aloud and i intro-ed to them words they didn't know the meaning off and asked them questions in between.
we were half way through the third chapter when we had to depart from the library.

seeing all those children books really reminded me of all those times of how i had savoured every picture and every word of those glossy pages filled with so much colour.
my mind would work overtime and my imagination would be stretched to the fullest.
that's the joy of reading right there.
which is why i don't really like mr midnight cause its soooo.....typical so to speak.
like dead and strict and colourless.
no more wonderous magic tree to climb and visit different lands,no more pony/ballet/summer/music camp,no more of things which are so wonderful they don't exist except in children books.

im not sure why im still awake.
went for work at 645am and because it was so crowded (i couldn't even stand straight, much less move) i escaped! -for breakfast and spent 2 hours on a bench near the playground reading the straits times cover to cover.
my hands was black by the time i was done.
i went back to my mom's shop and it still was in the same situation-16-20 women trying to shop in a shop thats so small its very small.MAKE SENSE RIGHT? LOL
i sucked it in (almost literally) and maanooveered around slickly while serving to irate and unstable customers.
had to tah han this for an hour before i gratefully took my leave and headed off to church.
i think a post on the different types of customers there are is going to be posted soon.
its bound to happen.
me going on a wild rampage of complains about my job.
hahas.

toodle loo.
